An Education in Painting Murals
When I asked the folks at Austin Community College back in 2014 if I could create a mural for their brand new Fashion Incubator, I didn’t realize it would open a door for painting murals inside educational institutions across the city of Austin and beyond. In partnership with Austin Community College, SXSW and GSD&M, I led fashion illustration students in live painting a mural for ACC's Promiseland Project. I have also participated in many community efforts to uplift women of color, such as Frida Friday ATX.

Teaching a New Generation of Artists
When I was little, I learned how to paint on walls from my father who created murals in our garage, his Man Cave. As an adult, it only felt natural to do the same for others. At Bertha Sadler Means’ Young Leadership Academy and Big Springs Ranch for Children, I taught high schoolers how to paint and install murals from start to finish. We figured out how to work together as a team and discover our strengths. It helped us create a legacy that would inspire students and teachers at their schools long after the graduated.
