NOT-QUITE-SUPERMODEL

THE INSPIRATION

Kathy A. Tong’s debut novel is inspired by transformation. Alex is unassumingly discovered slicing fish at a local Safe Way when she is scouted by agent, Robin Ramone. From there is a story of Alex’s transformation from small town girl to NYC novel. The entire book will have you laughing out loud and wondering how much of the story is fact and fiction.

THE CHARACTERS

Through a very collaborative process, Kathy and I worked together to bring each of her characters to life including Alex’s frequented stops along her adventures to become Not-Quite-Supermodel. You can purchase the book online here: Not-Quite-Supermodel

THE QUOTES

In addition to character and scene illustrations, I worked with Kathy to curate creative content and note worthy quotes from the book’s leading characters. Photography + collaboration courtesy of Paige Newton Photography

BEAUTY BAR by CAMILA MELLO

Livingston NJ, 2016

THE INSPIRATION

Camila Mello came to me in need of versatile, sexy and feminine artwork for her new Salon in New Jersey, NY.  She liked the Ipsy series I created the previous fall.  Having worked with Camila in the past, I had an idea of her style, a little edgy, modern but sophisticated at the same time.  I immediately thought of the designer Balmain and began pulling inspiration from their 2016 collections.

In September of 2015, Michelle Phan's makeup brand, Ispy reached out looking for artwork that reflected the coming Fall's hottest trends.  Inspired by dusty black kohl and brilliant gold foil and jewels.

JOY ALEXANDER PHOTOGRAPHY

THE CONCEPT

The words Gina Cooperman of Joy Alexander used to describe her brand and aesthetic were irreverent, fun, creative, quirky but clean.  After only a 15 minute phone consultation, our creative minds were in sync as to the direction and look of the illustrations that would fill her website and branding collateral.

JOY ALEXANDER INSPIRATION.jpg

THE ARTWORK

Gina had a specific, highly saturated color scheme in mind which I pulled through into her artwork.  The accessories (there are Yeezy high tops on that giraffe) and attitudes of the animals perfectly reflected the irreverent and youthful look that epitomizes the season of Joy Alexander Photography.
